Cloudy days are some of the best for photos, although they do create a certain ambiance that is in stark contrast to bright sunny days. I guess the kids' moods matched the weather in this photo, but I don't only want to capture the smiles and laughter.
Here Liam was scowling at me because... well, I don't even remember why. But it captures an aspect of his personality perfectly, and of course Jack is right there with him.
In addition to cloudy days and scowls, switch things up and shoot from the side of the swings instead of the usual view from the front. In fact in general if you're finding you're always taking the same shots, after you take a shot, think about getting closer, getting further, getting higher, getting lower, and getting to one side or the other and find a new perspective.
