Like all of us, I was shocked and horrified by the massacre of small children and the teachers who tried to protect them at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on Friday.

I know we're all reeling, and holding onto our children a little tighter right now.

But here's the thing.

Children die in shocking and horrific ways every day.

Children die.

And their parents have to live with that loss for the rest of their lives.

Parenthood is an amazing privilege. We have daily, in abundance, what parents who have suffered a loss would give just about anything to have one more minute of - time with our beautiful, precious kids.

Remember this, not just today, not just this week, or this month.

Remember this, and don't let the memory fade, ever.

Hug your children tighter every day.
